Elementary Level (A2)
At A2 level, students build on basic English and learn to communicate in more everyday situations. They practice talking about routines, plans, and experiences, asking for directions, and making requests. They read longer everyday texts like emails and simple articles, write short descriptions and informal messages, and improve grammar with past simple, present continuous, question words, comparatives, and modals. Vocabulary expands around daily life topics, and pronunciation focuses on stress, linking, and contractions.
Intermediate Level (B1)
At B1 level, students gain confidence in more detailed conversations and a wider range of texts. They discuss opinions, problems, and solutions, and improve listening through podcasts, news, and longer conversations. Reading includes stories, articles, and instructions, while writing develops into opinion texts, short reports, and formal or informal emails with clear paragraph structure. Grammar includes perfect tenses, conditionals, reported speech, and more complex sentence forms. Vocabulary and pronunciation become more natural and accurate.
Upper Intermediate Level (B2)
At B2 level, students work toward fluency and confidence in academic and professional communication. They take part in debates, presentations, and more advanced discussions, and listen to lectures, interviews, and films with less support. They read complex texts such as reports, novels, and academic articles, and write structured essays, business emails, and formal reports. Grammar includes advanced structures such as mixed conditionals, inversion, and complex passive forms. Vocabulary becomes more precise and professional, while pronunciation focuses on fluency, rhythm, and clear intonation.
Advanced Level (C1)
At C1 level, students refine their English for professional, academic, and social fluency. They engage in sophisticated discussions, negotiations, and presentations, and understand idiomatic and colloquial language in complex speech. Reading includes technical and abstract texts, research papers, and literature, with attention to tone and style. Writing focuses on advanced essays, articles, and analytical texts that are clear, coherent, and persuasive. Grammar is used with high accuracy and nuance, vocabulary becomes broad and natural across contexts, and pronunciation develops toward near-native fluency.
Additional Aspects of the ESL Curriculum
The curriculum also includes cultural immersion to help students understand English in context, including customs, accents, holidays, and traditions in English-speaking countries. Test preparation is available for students studying for EAP, IELTS, or Cambridge exams. Practical communication is supported through workshops and extracurricular activities such as conversation, movie, song, and grammar clubs, as well as excursions.
Job Ready Program
CCEB also offers a 4-week Job Ready program to prepare students for work, especially in hospitality. Students build confidence with workplace vocabulary, resume and cover letter writing, and job applications, including opportunities to deliver resumes directly to hotel HR managers. The program includes a face-to-face RSA certificate and a Barista certificate taught by qualified vocational instructors. Students also take part in hotel tours, coffee-making practice, beer-pouring instruction, and finish by planning and presenting a Wine & Cheese event for CCEB students and staff.
This course is designed to help students prepare for either the General or Academic versions of the IELTS test. Lessons are aimed at improving students’ scores on all test components (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), while also introducing high-level grammatical concepts and expanding students’ vocabulary. Small class sizes allow our teachers to give you personalised feedback, and design lessons that target specific areas of weakness. Regular practice tests help you familiarise yourself with the test structure and track your progress throughout the course. Whether you are taking the IELTS test for work, study, or migration, we can help you achieve the score you need.
